Hints :

  1. Before beginning the assignment, use your HTML folder on your flash drive or J drive, use your ChapterFiles folder in your HTML folder, create a folder in your ChapterFiles folder called Chapter04. All your work should be in the following folder path HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04. (Example if your flash drive letter is E: the folder path for all your work is E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04) Before putting in the HTML code, click on the In-Chapter 4 Files Download link listed in the upper right hand corner to download the graphic and HTML files needed for this chapter from my web site. Make sure to store the files in E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04. Click the Run button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed then type in the file path where your html file is located, or use the build button (button with the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder and click the OK button, click the Unzip and OK buttons. (The downloaded files should now be located on E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.)

  2. Start with step 1 on page HTML 156, work through the steps to the end of chapter. Before attaching your 12 page Word document, use the header feature of Word to enter the following course information (INF 186-001, Elementary Web Design, Your Name Here).

  3. Instead of doing step 1 on page HTML 157, use the downloaded template  (HTML Template.html) for the HTML code from step 1 listed above. (Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the file (HTML Template.html) in your E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04 folder , right-click on the HTML Template.html icon point to Open With on the shortcut menu and click Notepad, to open it. Change the text between the title-tags, to Statewide Realty Home Page. Remember to save by clicking File menu then click Save As, click Save: as type down-arrow and choose All Files, in the Save As dialog box, type statewide.html in the File name text box, click the Save command button.) 
  1. In step 1 on page HTML 165, when saving your work, instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  2. On page HTML 166, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 3-22 on page HTML 106) Paste this screen into a Word document as page 1. Use the following name for your Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName)
     
  3. In step 1 bottom on page HTML 166, you can just double-click on the statewide.html file in Windows Explorer to display the HTML file in the browser.
     
  4. On page HTML 167, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page (statewide.html) as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName) as pages 2 and 3.
     
  5. In step 1 on page HTML 174, when saving your work, instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  6. On page HTML 175, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 3-22 on page HTML 106) Paste this screen into a Word document as page 4. Use the following name for your Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName)
     
  7. On page HTML 174, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page (complex.html) as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName) as pages 5 and 6.
     
  8. On page HTML 178, before opening the HTML file,  instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  9. In step 1 on page HTML 181, when saving your work, instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  10. On page HTML 181, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 3-22 on page HTML 106) Paste this screen into a Word document as page 7. Use the following name for your Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName)
     
  11. On page HTML 181, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page (vacancy.html) as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName) as pages 8 and 9.
     
  12. On page HTML 184, before opening the HTML file,  instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  13. In step 1 on page HTML 191, when saving your work, instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter04\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter04.
     
  14. On page HTML 191, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 3-22 on page HTML 106) Paste this screen into a Word document as page 10. Use the following name for your Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName)
     
  15. On page HTML 181, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page (bedrooms.html) as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles4LastName) as pages 11 and 12.
