In-Chapter 2 Files Download

Hints :

  1. Before beginning the assignment, create a HTML folder on your flash drive or J drive, create a folder in your HTML folder called ChapterFiles, create a folder in your ChapterFiles folder called Chapter02. All your work should be in the following folder path HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02. (Example if your flash drive letter is E: the folder path for all your work is E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02) Before putting in the HTML code, click on the In-Chapter 2 Files Download link listed in the upper right hand corner to download the graphic and HTML files needed for this chapter from my web site. Make sure to store the files in E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02. Click the Run button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed then type in the file path where your html file is located, or use the build button (button with the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder and click the OK button, click the Unzip and OK buttons. (The downloaded files should now be located on E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02.)

  2. Start with step 1 on page HTML 36, work through the steps to the end of  chapter. Before attaching your 3 page Word document, use the header feature of Word to enter the following course information (INF 186-00s, Elementary Web Design, Your Name Here).

  3. Instead of doing steps 1 and 2 on pages HTML 38 and 39, use the downloaded template  (HTML Template.html) for the HTML code from step 1 listed above. (Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the file (HTML Template.html) in your E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02 folder , right-click on the HTML Template.html icon point to Open With on the shortcut menu and click Notepad, to open it. Change the text between the title-tags, to Community Food Drive. Remember to save by clicking File menu then click Save As, click Save: as type down-arrow and choose All Files, in the Save As dialog box, type fooddrive.html in the File name text box, click the Save command button.)

  4. In step 4 on page HTML 51, when saving your work, instead of using "G", use either your network drive "J", or the drive letter for your flash drive. Instead of using "Chapter02\ChapterFiles", use HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter02.

  5. In step 1 on page HTML 54, you can just double-click on the fooddrive.html file in Windows Explorer to display the HTML file in the browser.

  6. On pages HTML 66 and HTML 67, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 2-35 on page HTML 67) Paste this screen into a Word document as page 1. Use the following name for your Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles2LastName)
