(Create a Word document named
HTMLChapterFiles8LastName)

Before beginning the assignment, use your HTML folder
on your flash drive or J drive, use your ChapterFiles folder
in your HTML folder, create a folder
in your ChapterFiles folder called Chapter08. All your work should be
in the following folder path HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08. (Example
if your flash drive letter is E: the folder
path for all your work is
E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08) Before putting in the HTML code,
click on the In-Chapter 8 Files Download link listed in the upper right hand corner to download
the graphic and HTML files needed for this chapter from my web site. Make sure to store the
files in
E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08. Click the Run
button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed then type in the file path
where your html file is located, or use the build button (button with
the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder
and click the
OK button, click the
Unzip and OK buttons. (The downloaded files should now be located on
E:\HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08.)

Start with step 1 on page HTML 354, work through the steps to the end
of chapter. Instead of using "G:\Chapter08\ChapterFiles\index.html", use
the folder your created in step 1 above ( HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08)
to find the index.html file that you downloaded from my web page. Before attaching your
13 page Word document, use the
header feature of Word to enter the following course
information (INF 186-001, Elementary Web
Design, Your Name Here).
- In step 1 on page HTML 358, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on
your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen
for (revised menu.html)
from W3C (see
Figure 2-35 on page HTML 67) Paste this screen into a
Word document as page 1. Use the following name for your
Word document. (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName)
- On pages HTML 359, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys
on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML
code (revised menu.html) and the Web Page (index.html) as viewed in the browser.
(see HTML 358 Figure 8-6)
Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) as pages 2 and 3.
- In step 1 on page HTML 362, instead of using "G:\Chapter08\ChapterFiles\index.html", use
the folder your created in step 1 above ( HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08)
to save your style sheet (styles1.css). Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys
on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the CSS
code (styles1.css). Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on
your keyboard to get a screen copy of the CSS validation screen
for (styles1.css)
from W3C.
Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) as pages 4 and 5.
- In step 1 on page HTML 363, instead of using "G:\Chapter08\ChapterFiles\index.html", use
the folder your created in step 1 above ( HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08)
to open the file to be linked (contact.html) that was downloaded from my web
site.
- In step 2 on page HTML 364, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on
your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen
for (revised contact.html)
from W3C, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys
on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML
code (revised contact.html).
Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) as pages 6 and 7.
- In step 1 on page HTML 365, instead of using "G:\Chapter08\ChapterFiles\", use
the folder your created in step 1 above ( HTML\ChapterFiles\Chapter08)
to open the files to be linked (meetings.html, questions.html, and
welcome.html) that was downloaded from my web site. Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on
your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen
for (revised meetings.html, questions.html)
from W3C, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys
on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML
code (revised meetings.html, questions.html).
Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) as pages 8-11.
- In step 1 on page HTML 370, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on
your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen
for (revised welcome.html)
from W3C, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys
on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML
code (revised welcome.html).
Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) as pages 12-13.
Note: Classroom
Students: Attach this Word
file and send it to my email account. ManningD@nku
(Online Course Students should
submit the electronic version using the drop box in Blackboard of
the Word document (HTMLChapterFiles8LastName) when you submit the
assignment at the end of the chapter.
