Composing a Donation Analysis Page

InTheLab 5 Files Download

Hints and corrections:

  1. Before beginning the assignment, use your HTML folder on your flash drive or J drive, use your IntheLab folder in your HTML folder, create a folder in your IntheLab folder called Chapter05. All your work should be in the following folder path HTML\IntheLab\Chapter05. (Example if your flash drive letter is E: the folder path for all your work is E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter05) Before putting in the HTML code, click on the InTheLab 5 Files Download link listed in the upper right hand corner to download the graphic and HTML files needed for this chapter from my web site. Make sure to store the files in E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter05. Click the Run button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed then type in the file path where your html file is located, or use the build button (button with the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder and click the OK button, click the Unzip and OK buttons. (The downloaded files should now be located on E:\HTML\IntheLab \Chapter05.)

  2. In step 1 on page HTML 251, use the graphic ("money.gif") downloaded into folder E:\HTML\IntheLab \Chapter05 instead of the folder mentioned in your book.

  3. Instead of doing step 3 on page HTML 252, use the downloaded template  (HTML Template.html) for the HTML code from step 1 listed above. (Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the file (HTML Template.html) in your E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter05 folder, right-click on the HTML Template.html icon point to Open With on the shortcut menu and click Notepad, to open it. Change the text between the title-tags to lab5-1solution. Remember to save by clicking File menu then click Save As, click Save: as type down-arrow and choose All Files, in the Save As dialog box, type lab5-1solution.html in the File name text box, click the Save command button.)

  4. In step 6 on page HTML 252, use the E:\HTML\IntheLab \Chapter05 instead of the folder mentioned in your book, to get the three gifs needed for your links.

  5. In step 8 on page HTML 252, use the E:\HTML\IntheLab \Chapter05 instead of the folder mentioned in your book, to save your work.

  6. In step 9 on page HTML 252, use E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter05\lab5-1solution.html as the URL to view the Web page in your browser, if E is the drive letter of your flash drive. You can also just double-click on the lab5-1solution.html file in Windows Explorer to display the HTML file in the browser.

  7. In step 10 on page HTML 252, instead of printing the Web page in the browser, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 2-35 on page HTML 67) Paste this screen into a Word document (HTMLInTheLab5-1LastName) as page 1. Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLInTheLab5-1LastName) as pages 2 and 3.

  8. In step 7 on page HTML 252, if your did the bonus. Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the the 3 Web Pages as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLInTheLab5-1LastName) as pages 4-6.
Add you name and course section number in parenthesis to the right of the COMMUNITY DONATION FUND DRIVE header.

(Online Course Students should submit the electronic versions using the drop box in Blackboard of the Word document (HTMLInTheLab5-1LastName),  together with the In-Chapter work from this chapter (HTMLChapterFiles5LastName).
