Hints and corrections:

  1. Before beginning the assignment, create a HTML folder on your flash drive or J drive, create a folder in your HTML folder called IntheLab, create a folder in your IntheLab folder called Chapter02. All your work should be in the following folder path HTML\IntheLab\Chapter02. (Example if your flash drive letter is E: the folder path for all your work is E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter02)

  2. In step 1 on page HTML 77, use the following link to download a template for the HTML code. (HTML Template) Click the Run button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed, then type in the file path where you want html file to be located, or use the build button (button with the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder (use the folder created in step 1 listed above) and click the OK button, then click HTML Template in the list,  click the Unzip and OK buttons. Next change the text inside the title tags to LAB 2-3. (Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the file (HTML Template.html) in your E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter02 folder , double-click on the HTML Template.html icon to open the file in your browser, right-click on the screen and select View Source on the short-cut menu to open the code window in Notepad. Change the text between the title-tags. Remember to save by clicking File menu then click Save As, click Save: as type down-arrow and choose All Files, in the Save As dialog box, type lab2-3.html in the File name text box, click the Save command button.)
     
  3. In step 2 on page HTML 77, make up information for the paragraph and bulleted list about what you know about tutoring.

  4. In step 3 on page HTML 77, To get the graphic needed, click on the Graphic FilesDownload link listed above, this will be a self extracting zipped file. To extract the graphic file ("cts_clip8.gif"). Click the Run button for each of the two dialog boxes displayed, then type in the file path where your html file is located, or use the build button (button with the three dots) to navigate to the proper drive and folder and click the OK button, then click the cts_clip8.gif file in the list, click the Unzip and OK buttons. (The cts_clip8.gif file should now be located on the same drive and folder as your html file for this chapter.)

  5. In step 4 on page HTML 77, save to a flash drive or your J drive using the folder names listed in book. instead of using "G" as listed in the URL to view the Web page in browser use either "J" or the drive letter for your flash drive. You can just double-click on the .htm file in Windows Explorer to display the HTML file in the browser.

  6. In step 5 on page HTML 78, use E:\HTML\IntheLab\Chapter02\lab2-3.html as the URL to view the Web page in your browser, if E is the drive letter of your flash drive. You can also just double-click on the fooddrive.html file in Windows Explorer to display the HTML file in the browser.
     
  7. In step 6 on page HTML 78, instead of printing the Web page in the browser, use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML validation screen from W3C (see Figure 2-35 on page HTML 67) Paste this screen into a Word document (HTMLInTheLab2-3LastName) as page 1. Use the Alt-PrintScreen keys on your keyboard to get a screen copy of the HTML code and the Web Page as viewed in the browser. Paste these screens into a Word document (HTMLInTheLab2-3LastName) as pages 2 and 3.

  8. In step 7 on page HTML 78, instead of writing your name on the 2 sheets, circle your name in the title object in the heading section of the HTML code.
    Add you name and course section number in parenthesis to the right of the My Experience header.

(Online Course Students should submit the electronic versions using the drop box in Blackboard of the Word document (HTMLInTheLab2-3LastName),  together with the In-Chapter work from this chapter Word document (HTMLChapterFiles2LastName).
